Attention: Aspiring Politicians,  Elected Officials,  Political Staffers, and  Political Enthusiasts!

If you are an aspiring politician, a current elected official, a political staffer, or even just someone who enjoys following the intricacies of politics liike I do, I’m excited to share something that might interest you: a new course on how to succeed in politics, win elections, and win re-election.

Introducing My Course: “Winning Elections & Succeeding in Office”

As someone who has been elected seven times in federal elections, I understand the complexities of political life. Over my long career, I’ve been fortunate enough to serve under 10 political party leaders and six prime ministers. Each of these leaders has shaped my understanding of politics, and I’ve learned invaluable lessons along the way. This course is my attempt to pass on that knowledge, offering tips and strategies that aren’t available anywhere else.

Whether you’re an aspiring politician looking to get your start, an elected official trying to navigate the ups and downs of office, or someone interested in how to approach politics from the inside, this course is designed to help you succeed.

Why My Course?    My Credentials

Above:   Politics Watch rated me the number one "Top Performer" of 338 MPs.  â€‹

What makes this course unique?   Well, I have a wealth of experience that few can match. I was elected seven times to the Parliament of  Canada, serving under various political banners: as a Progressive Conservative, a Liberal, a member of the Conservative Party of Canada, and even as an Independent candidate. I understand that I am the only Member of Parliament to ever have been elected under three parties—and as an independent.   I have been elected in right wing parties, a left wing party and as an Independent.

In fact, as an independent candidate, I secured a remarkable 69% of the vote. This demonstrates that the party label... or no party label .... doesn’t always matter as much as one might think. What really matters is connecting with the people you represent and serving them effectively.   In this proposed course, I will share dozens of approaches that helped me get elected and re-elected.

I was also honored to be recognized by Maclean’s magazine as the "Best Constituent Member of Parliament" at one point. Additionally, The Hill Times published a feature article on my career in their “Power and Influence” edition, which tells my story in just two pages.

Why I Believe Our Democratic System Works

I’ve had the privilege of serving in politics for over 30 years, and throughout that time, I’ve gained a deep appreciation for the democratic process. While it’s easy to focus on the negative aspects of politics, I’ve seen firsthand how well our system can work. In my role as a parliamentarian, I’ve traveled to various parliaments and legislatures across the globe, and without a doubt, I can say that ours is the best. I’m incredibly proud of the role I’ve played in our system, and I believe it’s worth preserving and improving for future generations.

The Importance of a Great Team

One of the key factors behind my success has been having exceptional staff. In my experience, having a dedicated and skilled team is crucial to an elected official’s success. That’s why I’ll dedicate a significant portion of this course to aspiring political staffers, current staff members, and those looking to build their own teams. A top-tier staff can make all the difference when it comes to serving your constituents and achieving political success.  Organization is the key.  With a clear chain of command and great communications, your chances of success will dramatically increase.
