Looking for answers on Canada Post's Rural Mail Safety Review

Ottawa – On behalf of his constituents, Bill Casey, M.P. recently submitted the following Question to the Order Paper in regards to Canada Post’s ongoing rural mail safety review:  

“Q-19² — October 17, 2007 — Mr. Casey (Cumberland—Colchester—Musquodoboit Valley) — With respect to the ongoing rural mail safety review being undertaken by the Canada Post Corporation, to date: (a) how many rural mailbox locations have been reviewed both nationally and within Nova Scotia; (b) how many of these boxes have been reviewed in the riding of Cumberland—Colchester—Musquodoboit Valley; (c) how many of the reviewed mailboxes in Nova Scotia, and in the federal riding of Cumberland—Colchester—Musquodoboit Valley have failed the criteria of the review; (d) how many senior citizens across Canada and in Nova Scotia have been negatively impacted as a result of failing the criteria of the review, and what steps has Canada Post taken to ensure that they can continue to receive their mail; and (e) how many complaints have been received by Canada Post, by province and territory, in regard to the review?”

             This Order Paper question was prompted by an elderly constituent and her family, who have been working with Casey and his office over many months in an effort to have her rural mail service returned to the end of her driveway. The Question on the parliamentary Order Paper is another step taken to find the family answers, and to see if other senior citizens in the area have been equally affected by Canada Post’s rural mail safety review.

            Casey invites all constituents negatively affected by Canada Post’s rural mail safety review to contact his office.
