Ottawa - Bill Casey, MP for Cumberland Colchester tabled in the House of Commons a letter from the Government of the State of Washington outlining State statutes that may have been broken by the telemarketing scheme being run out of a Federal prison in New Brunswick.  This happened despite numerous meetings between the Prime Minister and the President of the United States; the Solicitor General of Canada, Attorney General of Canada and the Attorney General of the United States, in which both sides committed to fighting cross border telemarketing deception.

Casey pressed for answers as to who within the Federal Government of Canada is responsible for these telemarketing programs and specifically who approved this cross border telemarketing contract.

Casey says, “It is difficult to understand how senior governmental officials could have allowed this embarrassing program to be implemented.  The review of these programs should be immediately suspended and the program should be terminated permanently.”
