Ottawa - Bill Casey, Member of Parliament for Cumberland Colchester, again raised the subject of the ridiculous geographical discrimination with respect to Government of Canada jobs.  Casey quoted from the current jobs.gc.ca website for an Aquatic Ecologist in Fredericton, New Brunswick, which indicates that people living in some counties of New Brunswick can apply for the job, while others cannot.  People who live in one county in Prince Edward Island can apply for the job, but if you live in the two other counties you cannot. In Nova Scotia, if you live in one of four counties you cannot apply, but the rest of the province is eligible.  Finally, if you live in the Avalon Peninsula, Newfoundland and Labrador you can apply.

Casey says, “This discrimination makes absolutely no sense and must stop.  It follows on the heels of dozens of other jobs with the same discriminatory approach.”  Casey promises he will continue to press this issue until a satisfactory solution is found.
