Casey responds to MacKay's suggestion of a possible return to the Conservative caucus

September 25, 2007

Ottawa  “Defence Minister Peter MacKay’s comments that I might be invited to return to the Conservative fold is a positive step considering that the Conservatives are keenly aware that my return is conditional on the reversal of the seven pages of amendments to the Atlantic Accords that were imposed on Nova Scotia in the 2007 Budget.

The issue that caused the Conservatives to expel me from caucus in the first place was my opposition to the amendments that altered the John Hamm Accord Agreements and that has not changed.

Peter MacKay knows how important the Atlantic Accords are to all Nova Scotians and that the amendments are the main obstacle to any discussions about my return.  I look forward to these discussions.”
