Casey calls for clarity on Crown Share Adjustment Payments
with open letter to Finance Minister
October 9, 2007
Ottawa
– Bill
Casey, M.P. today called on the Finance Minister, the Honourable Jim
Flaherty, to provide him with a list of the payments made by the Government
of Canada to the Province of Nova Scotia under the Crown Share Adjustment
Payment obligations.
Casey believes that the Government of Canada
still owes the province based on previous legislation relating to Crown
Share Adjustment Payment.
The letter to Minister Flaherty is attached for
review, and so are pages from “Appendix A to the Submission by the Province
of Nova Scotia to the Expert Panel on Equalization and the Territorial
Financing Formula – Recommendations for Equalization Should Not Undermine
the Nova Scotia Offshore Accords” (2006), better explaining the Crown Share
Adjustment Payment
